Overview

ThePot ("we," "our," or "the app") is a social challenge app operated by GumDrop LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use ThePot on the web or iOS.

Information We Collect

Account Information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name (if provided), email address (if provided), and a unique identifier from the authentication provider. We do not receive or store your password.

Profile Information: Display name, avatar emoji, and avatar color that you choose within the app.

Game Data: All in-app activity including groups joined, claims created, wagers placed, votes, comments, loans, casino activity, and transaction history. This data is necessary to operate the game.

Device Tokens: If you enable push notifications on iOS, we store your device token to send notifications about game activity.

How We Use Your Information

• To create and manage your account
• To operate the game (claims, wagers, settlements, loans, casino)
• To send push notifications about game activity (if enabled)
• To display leaderboards and statistics within your groups
• To prevent abuse and maintain fair play

No Real Money

ThePot uses virtual coins only. No real money is wagered, won, lost, or exchanged at any time. The app is not a gambling service. Coins have no monetary value and cannot be redeemed for cash or prizes.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Your game data (display name, avatar, balance, claims, wagers) is visible to other members of groups you join. This is necessary for the social gameplay experience.

We use the following third-party services:

• Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In: Authentication only
• Vercel: Hosting and serverless functions
• Neon: PostgreSQL database hosting
• Upstash: Redis caching for push notification tokens
• Apple Push Notification Service: iOS push notifications
• Ably: Real-time updates (connection identifiers only)
• Highlightly: Licensed sports scores and odds data (no user data shared)
• Google AdMob: In-app advertising on iOS (see Advertising below)

Advertising

The iOS app displays ads served by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising identifier, IDFA, where you have granted App Tracking Transparency permission), approximate location derived from IP address, and ad interaction data to serve and measure ads. If you decline tracking permission, ads are served on a non-personalized basis. See Google's Privacy Policy for details on how Google processes this data.

You can remove ads permanently with a one-time in-app purchase ("Remove Ads"). Purchases are processed entirely by Apple — we never receive or store your payment information. Purchase entitlements can be restored on any device signed into the same Apple ID.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon (US region). Authentication tokens are signed with industry-standard JWT. All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption. We do not store passwords — authentication is handled entirely by Apple and Google.

Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile page on the web app or in the iOS app settings.

When you delete your account, we permanently remove: your user record, all group memberships, all wager entries, votes, comments, transaction history, and loan records. If you are the creator of a group, ownership is automatically transferred to another member.

Children

ThePot is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
