How ThePot works

ThePot is a social challenge app for friend groups. Make claims, challenge your friends, and prove who knows best — all with virtual coins. No real money, all bragging rights.

Think you know something? Make a claim and let your group wager on it. Set two sides (Yes/No, Team A/Team B, or anything custom), pick a max wager, and set a deadline. Everyone places their coins on the side they believe in. When the claim is settled, winners split the pot.

Pick live games from 20+ sports leagues (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, NCAAB, EPL, and more) powered by ESPN. Choose moneyline, spread, or over/under. Games auto-settle when the final score comes in — no manual work needed.

21 template-based predictions that auto-settle. Will a player go broke? Who ends richer? Will anyone hit a 5-win streak? Pick from Player Markets, Head to Head, or Group Vibes categories. The system watches the stats and settles automatically.

Challenge a specific friend to a head-to-head claim. Both players lock in their coins on acceptance. Up to 6 rounds of counter-offers to negotiate the stakes. Winner takes the full pot — no house take on challenges.

Everyone starts with 500 coins. Claim 50 free coins daily (resets at 3 AM ET). Win coins by being right, lose them by being wrong. The house takes a small cut of group claims to fund the house pot.

The house pot collects a percentage from settled group claims. It pays out bonuses for win streaks (3/5/7 in a row), upset victories, and perfect weeks. At season's end, 15% of the house pot funds the season awards — MVP takes a triple share, the rest split evenly. The bigger the pot, the bigger the bonuses.

Short on coins? Borrow from a group member. Negotiate interest rates and repayment terms with up to 6 counter-offer rounds. Lenders can forgive debt if they're feeling generous.

Four casino games funded by the house pot: Blackjack (beat the dealer to 21), Roulette (spin the wheel, pick your numbers), Craps (roll the dice), and Ride the Bus (4 rounds of escalating risk for up to 10x payout).

Earn 8 achievement badges: Oracle (70%+ win rate), Hot Hand (5-win streak), Big Spender (top 10% wagers), Never Wrong (perfect record), Whale (1000+ single win), Debt Free (repaid a loan), Season Champ (#1 at season end), and Down Bad (hit rock bottom 3 times).

Seasons last 28 days. At the end of each season, the player with the highest balance earns the Season Champ badge, and 15% of the house pot funds the season awards that were earned — MVP counts as 3 shares, every other award as 1. Then relegation kicks in: a progressive skim (up to 25% at the top, tapering to 0% near the starting balance) is taken from each player's net worth and redistributed to the active players who fell behind. It's zero-sum and the house pot is never touched — there's no flat dividend anymore.
